The Book Review-Buddhist Pilgrimage through the eyes of teenager

REVIEW

Travelogues are helpful in much perspective; they are source of information of history and culture. Travelogue shows, how a book can become a companion for you, by bridging a gap between a person’s inner self and a city’s soul. Very few travelogues have the capacity to bring the true essence of the historical places. The book “Buddhist Pilgrimage through the Eyes of Teenager” written by Sanhita Sonavane, does that quite successfully. I am fascinated by reading this book written by a sixteen year old girl.In this younger age she got inspire to write about the Buddhist tourist places where she travelled.

Author was on Buddhist pilgrimage with her grandparents, where she visited Mughalsarai, Sarnath, Shravasti, Jetavana, Lumbini, Kushinara, Vaishali, Nalanda and Mahabhodhi Vihara. These all Holy Buddhist places are considered to be informative by historians, archaeologist, philosopher, authors, etc. as they display the rich culture and art of Buddhism.

What’s the most endearing part of author’s storytelling technique? She uses simple, short and direct sentences, well-stocked with information. Also, the emotions are honest, non-melodramatic and non-superficial. Interestingly, this travelogue is not about destinations; it's about the meaning of travel and how travel transforms you. And for the author, travel means change, freedom and giving back to society. Here, a simple act like travelling in train could get you arrested in moment.
